Privacy
Policy.
This is an informational website, not a patient portal. It collects as little as possible — and nothing about your health.
The Short Version
This site exists to explain how Dr. Melissa Burman practices sports medicine. It doesn’t run advertising trackers, it doesn’t build a profile of you, and it doesn’t ask you to create an account. The only information you can volunteer is an email address, if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter.
What This Site Collects
- Newsletter email address. If you subscribe to The Performance Prescription, we store the address you submit so we can send you the newsletter. That’s the only field the form asks for.
- Standard server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data when a page is requested — such as IP address, browser type, and the page visited. These logs are used for security and reliability, and are retained by the provider on its own schedule. [confirm retention with host]
What This Site Does Not Do
- No advertising or marketing trackers, and no third-party analytics.
- No cookies set by this site for tracking or profiling.
- No selling, renting, or trading of your information — ever.
- No appointment booking, patient records, or messaging with the practice.
Please Don’t Send Health Information
Information you send through an unsecured channel may not be protected the way information shared inside a clinical setting is. If you have already scheduled care, follow the instructions your clinic provided for secure communication.
Service Providers
A small number of vendors help operate this site — a hosting provider that serves the pages, and an email platform that delivers the newsletter. They may process the limited data described above solely to provide those services, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. [name host + email provider once wired]
Your Choices
- Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. Using it removes your address from the list.
- You may request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of the email address we hold for you by contacting us.
- Most browsers let you block or clear cookies and site data at any time.
California Privacy Rights
California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To make a request, use the contact details below. [attorney to confirm CCPA applicability]
Children’s Privacy
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted an email address, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. Material changes to how information is handled will be described plainly rather than buried.
Contact
Questions about this policy can be directed to the practice. [add contact email + mailing address] For anything clinical, please call the clinic rather than writing here. You may also want to read the medical disclaimer.
